Love this post! One thing I've noticed when I get back from an extended vacation is my expectations for myself, my coworkers and my company go up. It is a little like moving to a new house and, after having lived in it several years, you don't start to notice the little nicks in the paint and things that don't quite work right anymore. You become used to it. Once time is spent away from what is familiar and you return from a place where everything is different, you may wonder why things are not living up to their potential. Cognitive dissonance sets in and either validates the direction you were already heading (and renews your purpose) or uncovers the need for change.
