Sorry Gallup - You're Late
Gallup is pretty late to the conversation about the need for individual employees to own their own engagement. (See post: "Employees Are Responsible for Their Engagement Too.") Yes, managers are critical to the engagement equation, but Gallup's approach doesn't adequately address the role of senior management and individual employees.
Blessing White's "X" model of engagement takes a more balanced approach. See the video here. (And no, I don't work for Blessing White!)

Stop Donating to the Homeless
This Homelessness Organization Says You Should Stop Donating To The Homeless
Remarkably, it costs less to house, educate, and employ homeless people than it does to maintain their status quo on the streets. So let's invest in lifting people up—not just giving charity.

Accomplishments vs Performance
"Managers need good relationship skills, so they have the types of conversations they need to have with their employees. I’m emphasizing conversations: Formal evaluations are not subjective enough. Conversations are subjective and need to be when we look at real people doing real tasks and understand what worked, what didn’t, and why."

Brainstorm Your Life Goals
Not sure it really meets the definition of an "audit" but I definitely can see value in the process: "...she blocked out a few hours of alone, distraction-free time and started writing every goal, desire, and new habit she wanted to see come true on Post-it Notes. Next, she arranged all of her 121 Post-it Notes into themes like Health, Skills, and Relationships and separated them into. Then she designated each note with when the goal could be accomplished: either now/soon, someday, or on an everyday basis."

Sacrifice Breeds Success
Great article and story. Quote I loved: "When I interview people," he says, "I afterwards often ask the receptionist how those people treated them. It’s very telling to me how someone treats someone they perceive to be of a lower rank." If the candidate was dismissive, then it's simple: Ohmaye can dismiss the candidate. "When I look for talent, obviously they have to be competitive—but the other half is they have to be a good human being."
