While I don't generally condone putting down a good micro-brew, this article really resonated with me. A simple thing I try to live by every day: When considering whether I should take an action, particularly something that could impact others, I ask "If everyone in the world took the same action (or inaction), would the world be better off or worse?" If it would be better, I do it. If worse, I don't. (Think road rage people!)

A longer article but worth the read: "So Treglia decided to take a risk: He pulled the advisers out and replaced them with the two- and four-man LNOs. “It was a brilliant move,” says one of Treglia’s captains, who stayed behind as an LNO team leader. At first, the Afghans hated it. “They’re like, ‘You guys suck. Why are you leaving us?’” says the captain. But after a couple of weeks of the Marines telling the Afghans they couldn’t do things for them anymore, it was like a light went off. “They were like, ‘We can do this.’” And then, “We don’t need any Marines.” And not long after, “What are you still doing here?”"

@ John Buckley You have it exactly right John. Our system of gerrymandering districts has gone horribly wrong, allowing politicians on both sides of the isle to become more bold in their extreme views and not feel the need to meet in the middle, as the founding fathers intended. Gerrymandering needs to be taken out of the hands of the people that benefit from it and either replaced with an entirely different system or put in the hands of a neutral 3rd party.
